VHS Diepholz starts new program: exercise and education for everyone!

Exercise and health are the focus of the new program at the adult education center (VHS) in the Diepholz district. Barbara Brockmann, the head of the VHS, presented the extensive booklet, which is decorated in an attractive pastel purple. With a total of 280 pages, it offers a wide range of courses and events that are intended to encourage the population to lead an active and healthy lifestyle. Under the motto “Yes, I want to move,” particular emphasis is placed on health education, which is firmly anchored in the concept of adult education centers. As weser-kurier.de reports, a kick-off event is planned on September 5th from 4 p.m. at the Bassumer Freudenburg, where those interested can take advantage of free exercise offers.

The new semester offers a diverse range of courses. The lecture “Economy for the Common Good at the Municipal Level” will take place on September 4th in Syke, followed by an interesting seminar on fake news on September 15th in the Bassum Petermoor school center. A book club is also starting in Twistringen on September 8th, which is intended to encourage people to read more together. Women interested in local politics can take part in a special course in Syke from November 7th.

Cultural offers and health lectures

The VHS also focuses on cultural events. Improv theater performances are planned in Bassum on October 18th and in Bruchhausen-Vilsen on November 29th. The comprehensive health offering also includes lectures on important topics. On September 24th there will be information about diseases of the digestive tract in Bassum and on November 19th there will be a lecture on hospital reform in Weyhe. A new highlight in the course offering is the cooking course series on seasonal and sustainable cuisine, which starts on October 1st.

The health sector is a central topic in the entire VHS offering. Numerous events on relaxation, exercise and healthy eating refer to the Ottawa Charter of 1986, which defines important areas of action in health promotion. As vhs-bw.de emphasizes, health education at adult education centers aims to help citizens stay healthy and reduce signs of illness.

Variety of language and educational offerings

In addition to the health offerings, language courses are very popular. The “Baila conmigo” course starts on September 27th in Syke, where dancing and learning Spanish are on the program. Chinese will also be offered from September 10th, with a focus on online lessons. For French lovers, a course starts on September 8th in Twistringen and for everyone who would like to refresh their English skills, there is the “English Refresher” course from September 6th in Weyhe.

The program booklet is not only available online at vhs-diepholz.de, but is also distributed in town halls, educational institutions and supermarkets in 11,000 copies. Registration for the courses is possible both by telephone and by email in order to enable many interested parties to take part.

The trend towards health education and promoting physical activity shows that the VHS is a valuable contact point for the population in the region. Here you not only learn, but also live – in community and with the joy of movement.
