Brüllmarkt in Jever: A festival full of joy despite the rainy weather!
On October 12, 2025, the Brüllmarkt in Jever found a full house despite the rain showers. The second edition of the newly designed market attracted numerous visitors to the city center. The varied program, which was designed for families, ensured happy faces among young and old.
The event opened its gates at 11:00 a.m. and offered numerous attractions until 6:00 p.m. Folk dance and traditional costume groups were particularly eye-catching, as they thrilled the audience with their performances. Marian Schulze's hand-operated chain carousel on the church square was also a popular attraction for younger guests.
Animal highlights and culinary delights
The animal attractions created a lot of fun. Sheep, goats and the rabbit breeding club with their “long-eared bunnies” attracted many animal lovers. The DRV dog rescue team Ems-Jade was also on site with their rescue dogs and provided information about their important work. The Eulenspiegel Falconry stand was particularly popular and attracted great interest.
The palate was also catered for: from 12:00 p.m. there was suckling pig with coleslaw and stewed potatoes in the festival tent on the Old Market as well as homemade waffles and coffee from 2:00 p.m. Anyone who wanted to stroll around a bit had the opportunity to pick up a bargain or two during Sunday shopping, when the shops were open from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Entertainment and a sense of community
A special eye-catcher was the walking act Dino-Raptor “Blue”, which attracted large crowds of people. The rolling Dörpmuseum Münkeboe, which presented historical craftsmanship, was also very well received. A children's program with a horse carousel, face painting and craft activities ensured that the little guests were well entertained.
The opening ceremony was ceremoniously organized by the Jever e.V. marching band, which paraded through the streets with a parade of hobby horses, hand horses and ponies. Another highlight was the unveiling of a bronze sculpture by the artist Karin Mennen at 11:30 a.m. at Kiebitzplatz. This was donated by the Dr. Blume Foundation and received a lot of attention from those present.
A flea market in the Lange Meile and a hobby crafts market in the Graf-Anton-Günther-Saal completed the offering. Meanwhile, the animal shelters from Aurich and Wilhelmshaven provided information about their work and looked for new homes for their protégés. Visitors were also able to find out more about beekeeping at the Jeverland Beekeeping Association.
A successful day despite the weather
Organizer Virginia Berg was positive about how the market went and the large number of visitors who visited the city center despite the drizzle. The Schlachtmühle working group's barley festival also took place nearby and offered additional entertainment.
The Brüllmarkt has established itself as a highlight in the region's event calendar and provides a preview of the next edition in 2026. We can only hope that the weather will be a little more inviting then, because one thing is certain: the people of Jever make the most of their market visit even in bad weather.
