SoulGeneration celebrates 20 years – big reunion in Gifhorn!

On Saturday, November 1st, a very special concert will take place in the hall of the KultBahnhof in Gifhorn. The band SoulGeneration is celebrating its 20th birthday with a revival concert - after 12 years of absence from the stage! Around 30 musicians are already in the starting blocks and are looking forward to this special occasion. An event that not only makes fans' hearts beat faster, but also provides a platform for the music of the past two decades.

The SoulGeneration was founded in 2005 when Volker Schlag founded the band. The aim was to reinterpret old soul songs with fresh, young musicians. “We wanted to create sing-along songs that invite everyone to join in,” says singer Katharina Schlag. Singer Oliver Hagemann also has the microphone in his hand and gives exciting insights into the band's eventful history. “The first appearances at the Gifhorn Old Town Festival meant a lot to me,” he remembers.

The return to the stage

Also special is the festive appearance of the different generations of the SoulGeneration, who will appear on stage together. During the concert, sets will be presented from the first generation, now referred to as SoulGeneration, to the New SoulGeneration, founded by Billy Ray Schlag in 2014. This multi-stage story is rounded off with a five-piece brass ensemble and the characteristic outfits - white suits for the men and black dresses for the women.

A highlight could be the first joint rehearsal of all three generations on the day of the concert, which will further fuel the excitement and anticipation for the event. Former band member Billy Ray Schlag, who was part of the original SoulGeneration as an 11-year-old, later founded the club “If A Bird” to promote young musical talent. Today the current band “New SoulGeneration Germany” is based in Los Angeles.

A look into the past

The memories of past performances are invaluable for the band members. In addition to the concerts in Hamburg, there were also performances in partner cities such as Korsun in the Ukraine and Zlotow in Poland. These multicultural experiences have shaped the band and will certainly be part of the stories on November 1st. “There’s something going on and I can’t wait to be live on stage again,” Schlag adds enthusiastically.

The former members' anticipation for the revival concert is hard to miss, and they seem to have a good hand when it comes to planning the program. “It will be an unforgettable evening,” they promise. Fans and music lovers can look forward to a look back at two decades of soul history and a spectacular performance - the SoulGeneration is ready to shake the stage again!
