At the Sarstedt athletics meeting: Talents show top performance!
The Sarstedter Sparkasse athletics meeting on June 18, 2025 once again proved to be a highlight in the calendar of local athletes. Athletes of all ages came together in the small town of Sarstedt, which is known not only for its friendly people but also for its sporting spirit. From the youngest, who gained experience in their first running sessions, to the more experienced athletes, there was something for everyone. Organized by the local clubs FSV and TKJ, with valuable support from Sparkasse Hildesheim Goslar Peine, there was a lively competitive spirit that characterized the atmosphere on the sports day.
More than 60 volunteers were on hand to make the day a success. The regional participants also showed their best. Athletes traveled from various corners of Lower Saxony, including Eichsfeld, Groß Buchholz, Schöningen and Göttingen. The results speak for themselves: the athletes were able to collect over 50 podium places, which speaks for an extremely successful event. Exciting competitions were held in disciplines such as sprint, long jump, pole vault and many others. The young athlete Neele Hebel (TKJ) impressively won the women's 1500 meter run.

The athletes of the age groups showed a real fireworks display of talent. Milla Pflugradt (TKJ) and Lilit Korb (FSV) were at the forefront with their victories in the 800 meter run and high jump. In the U20 division, Oliver Potthast competed and won the shot put. The all-round competition between high jumper and long jumper was also evident in Armin Kollmeyer from TKJ, who reached 1.67 meters in the M15 high jump and was also able to secure victory in the long jump.
The young talents from Sarstedt impressively demonstrated that they are the future of the sport. The young Matteo Carceles (TKJ) achieved third place in the M8 batting ball with a mark of 23 meters, while Johann Wölfe (FSV) took first place in the same competition for nine-year-old boys with a distance of 31 meters. Sverre Lauenstein (FSV) also shone and won in several disciplines in the M10, including the 50 meter sprint.
Further events and a look ahead
The meeting in Sarstedt took place at an exciting time for athletics. In addition to regional competitions, interest in larger events is also growing. There will be several state championships and indoor meets this coming weekend, giving athletes the opportunity to compete against the best in the country. For example, the Sparkassen Indoor Meeting Dortmund will feature prominent participants such as Malaika Mihambo and Robert Farken, who are aiming for a comeback after long periods of injury. Such acquaintances make it clear that the level of performance in German athletics is always on the rise, which represents both a challenge and an inspiration for the athletes.
