Bad Pyrmont fire station: inauguration celebrated with a big party!
There is a celebration in Bad Pyrmont! The official inauguration of the new joint fire station of the Bad Pyrmont and Holzhausen local fire departments took place on October 30, 2025. This million-dollar project at the Gondola Pond parking lot, the planning of which began over a decade ago, has now become a reality. Despite initial skepticism and resistance from citizens, the city administration was able to prevail with a political majority and construction work could start in spring 2024. Now the new building shines in all its splendor and was celebrated with over 250 guests in the vehicle hall. Both guests of honor and firefighters had their say and were praised for their commitment. Mayor Klaus Blome proudly reported that the costs, at around 13.259 million euros, were even below the approved budget of 15 million euros, which was a great relief.
The local fire departments in Bad Pyrmont and Holzhausen have now vacated their old locations and are now using the new shared fire station. Importantly, the two defenses will not merge, but will retain their own independent identities. District fire chief Kay Leinemann said that a later merger could represent a possible further development. But the move also has its bittersweet moments - many firefighters feel nostalgic when they think back to the old locations. The new building also received a church blessing, which gave the event a celebratory setting.
A new beginning for the fire department
The construction of the fire station was carried out by GOLDBECK Nord GmbH as a total contractor, with the tendering process being based on a Europe-wide competition. The planning work was carried out by the PlanningXGroup office from Bremen, and the implementation phase was quickly advanced in August 2024 after a topping-out ceremony in September 2024. After just 20 months of construction, the new fire station was officially inaugurated.
On November 1st and 2nd, 2025, the Bad Pyrmont and Holzhausen fire departments invite the population to an “Open Gates Day”. The doors are open from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and you can look forward to guided tours of the new building, which not only show the infrastructure but also the technical equipment in more detail. In addition, games and fun activities as well as food and drinks are planned for the little visitors. This promises an all-round successful inauguration event for young and old.
Anyone who would like to follow the construction progress of the fire station can do so conveniently via a webcam, which is accessible on the GOLDBECK website. Further information about the fire station can also be found on the Bad Pyrmont city website. A good step into the future for the security of the city.
