It will be Christmassy and exciting at the same time at the Hameln Theater! The successful musical “The Pope” will celebrate its comeback from December 12th to 31st, 2025. Directed by Gil Mehmert, a total of 19 performances are planned that will take the audience on a captivating journey through time to the Middle Ages. The ensemble, consisting of young talents and experienced actors, ensures an unforgettable experience.
What makes the piece so special? “The Pope” not only tells the moving story about the only female pope in history, but also reflects the diversity of the theater age. Talents from the region in the spotlight
A highlight of the upcoming musical is the casting of the main child role, “Little Johanna”. In order to find this role, the spotlight musicals team is specifically looking for young talents from Hamelin and Hanover. A preparatory workshop took place on November 1st in Fulda, in which four girls, including Carla Jaech and Julia Scheuer from Hameln, took part. These young actresses already have experience from the previous year.
In addition, Clara Walte and Sara Grace Kaufeld from Hanover, who will be on stage for the first time at the MusicalWinter Hameln, are also in the starting blocks. Both have stage experience and implement Michael Student's stage directions. The experienced actors include Jenny Schlensker and Sascha Kurth, who are also part of the ensemble.
Rehearsals and performances
The official rehearsals for the musical begin in December, and the actresses can finally slip into their costumes and get to know the ensemble. The premiere will take place on December 11th at “MusicalWinter Hameln”.
