Numerous speed checks will be carried out in the district this week!

In calendar week 27, from June 30th to July 6th, 2025, various speed controls will be carried out in the district. As the District newspaper weekly reports, mobile measuring vehicles will be in use in cities such as Stade, Buxtehude and Apensen. The speed of vehicles is recorded, which can be quite unpleasant for some drivers.

What is particularly noteworthy is that the semi-stationary speed camera trailers are not listed in this overview. This shows that the authorities are taking an active approach to increase road safety. While many drivers find the controls annoying, the penalties for speeders in Germany are quite severe - this can quickly add up. The Car Motor and Sport draws attention to the fact that speed monitoring is regulated differently in each federal state and therefore not every location follows the same guidelines.

The various speed enforcement regulations can cause confusion, especially since there is no uniform law. According to the Heskamp law firm There are only a few national regulations in Germany. The minimum distances between speed signs and measuring devices vary depending on the federal state and can have legal consequences if these are not adhered to. In most cases, measuring devices must be between 150 and 200 meters away from the relevant traffic signs, with certain exceptions for schools and danger zones.

Drivers must pay particular attention to their claims in the event of a possible objection to fine notices. If there are doubts about the legality of the measurement, for example due to insufficient spacing or incorrect setup, it may be worth taking legal action. It is important to be well informed and know the guidelines in order to be well prepared for the next inspection.
