Robbery theft in Lidl: Perpetrator flees after scuffle!

On August 8, 2025, a dangerous incident occurred in the Lidl store in Munster, which caused excitement among employees. An unknown perpetrator carrying a backpack tried to get past the checkout area, but this plan went terribly wrong. According to that Heath Courier an attentive employee responded promptly and confronted the man. Instead of submitting to the check, the perpetrator refused to look into his backpack, which led to a scuffle between him and the employee. During the argument, he pushed the woman, but was unable to secure his stolen goods and ultimately fled without any loot.

The description of the perpetrator provides information about his appearance: He was male, between 40 and 45 years old, around 1.80 meters tall and had a corpulent build. He also appeared unkempt. When he fled, the man even left his outer clothing behind in the market, possibly indicating his hasty departure. The local police are asking the public for information and have set up the telephone number (05192) 9600 to reach potential witnesses.

Security incidents at Lidl

This incident is not the first of its kind to have occurred in a Lidl store. There was also an attempted theft in a branch on April 25, 2025. The focus here was on two male people who were approached by a store detective about shoplifting. One suspect used a screwdriver and attempted to attack the detective, while the other, a 24-year-old Colombian national, was restrained. The police also found stolen goods on his person and discovered that he had no permanent address and was living illegally in Germany. This incident was also reported by the Police NRW documented and led to the preliminary arrest of the suspect.

The security situation in the markets therefore remains an issue that also affects customers. While such incidents fortunately usually occur without serious injury, the increase in supermarket robberies makes it increasingly risky for employees and customers. The security forces in particular are required to react appropriately to such threatening situations and prevent them.
