Shooting festival in Soltau: Fabian Siems will be the best shooter in 2025!

On July 6, 2025, a real shooting festival was celebrated in the Bohemian town of Soltau. There were many exciting competitions and celebratory award ceremonies at the (*Traditional prize and medal ceremony*) of the Soltau City and Country Rifle Guild. The fact that Soltau has a special place in the event calendar in summer underlines the long tradition and great popularity of these celebrations, which not only attract citizens but also numerous guests from the region. Furthermore, the shooting competitions are used to determine the shooting queens and kings.

Heath Courierreports that the event is characterized by high-quality prizes and medals. The big winner of the day was *Fabian Siems*, who won the title of best shooter 2025 with an outstanding 500 rings. He was supported by the successful shooters on the other podium places: *Christian Nielsen* secured second place and *Bastian Glashoff* third place in this category.

Festive highlights and winners

The event was peppered with various competitions, including the popular *Guild Cup*, won by *Michael Taulien*, and the *King's Cup*, won by *Colin Paterson*. The *“2000 shooting”* also received a lot of attention, with *Harald Wulze* shining here with a score of 19.3. The medals went to the following shooters:

  • Gold: *Jasmin Jordan*
  • Silber: *Matthias Mischo*, *Benjamin Lier*
  • Bronze: *Niklas Wendiggensen*, *Frithjof Cohrs*, *Sabine Frost*

These festive competitions are a sign of community and customs that have existed for centuries. As in the entire Rhineland, shooting festivals are an integral part of the regional culture. They bring people together and celebrate traditions that date back to the Middle Ages. In fact, the first shooting festival was documented in Cologne in 1316 and has since served as a model for numerous festivals throughout the country.

Looking forward to the next shooting festival

And the joy of it remains unbroken! The next *Schützenfest of the Schützenguilde Soltau – Stadt und Land e.V.* will take place from July 10th to 13th, 2025. This is another highlight of the city, where tradition is very important. The ceremony, hangover breakfast and a large tent party on Schützenplatz promise conviviality and happiness for young and old. The ceremony begins on Friday at 1:00 p.m. in front of the Old Town Hall, followed by a traditional hangover breakfast, which takes place on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. at various locations.

Parades with music and more create an exuberant atmosphere. The shooting festivals in Germany, which have their origins in the shooting guilds of the Middle Ages, are, in the best sense, folk festivals that keep tradition and community alive. That's why everyone is looking forward to the next festival, which will attract lots of entertainment, attractions and a big tent party. It's safe to say that these celebrations bring people together and enjoy the quality time together.
