On June 3rd there was an unfortunate incident in Walsrode in which a 90-year-old woman fell victim to con artists. The scam began with a phone call in which the perpetrators told the old lady that money needed to be withdrawn to be transferred to a foreign account. Under pressure from the threat and perceived urgency, the fraudsters asked the woman to withdraw her money and hand it over to a young man. The Heidekreis police station has now launched a call for witnesses about this incident. Anyone who noticed anything unusual in the Quintusstrasse area between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on the day in question is asked to contact the Walsrode police.
