Citizen commitment is rewarded: competition in the Helmstedt district!
Committed citizens from the Helmstedt district can rejoice: the district is celebrating the completion of its district development concept with a special competition. In this way, we would like to express our sincere thanks for the high level of participation of over 5,000 people in the comprehensive survey that formed the basis of the concept. Regional today reports that the competition starts now and runs until November 15, 2025.
Project manager Ilona Stolpmann is pleased with the enrichment from the numerous feedback and the valuable support from NSI Consult. District Administrator Gerhard Radeck and other representatives of district politics were also present at the final event to present the final report, which took place at the end of June 2025. The results of citizen participation make it clear how important it is for the population to participate in the development of their living spaces. The website of the Helmstedt district particularly emphasizes the involvement of citizens in the process.
The competition in detail
Participants in the competition have the chance to answer eight questions about the district's municipal conditions. Eight attractive packages with vouchers for leisure activities or purchases from local partners await the winners. Overall, the prizes are intended to help strengthen a sense of community and promote the local economy.
Submissions can be easily submitted by post or email. To ensure everything goes smoothly, we recommend downloading the participation form from the district website. Legal recourse is excluded, which takes some of the pressure off and puts the focus on the fun of participating.
Importance of civic engagement
The high level of citizen engagement, which is reflected in the strong participation in the survey, is not only important for the Helmstedt district. In the context of municipal development policy in Germany, how IDOS Research examined, it is clear that such citizen surveys make a central contribution to promoting sustainable development. With a growing interest in development policy issues, not only larger cities but also small communities are asked to get actively involved.
The commitment of municipalities, both at home and abroad, as well as the responsibility they have towards their citizens can be further strengthened through measures such as the district development concept. It remains to be hoped that many citizens will take advantage of the opportunity to take part in the competition and thus contribute their voice to the further development process of their district.
With this in mind: Get involved and contribute your ideas – because every voice counts!
