New technology for the fire department: TLF 4000 ceremoniously handed over in Bodenwerder!

Last Friday, a new tank fire engine 4000 (TLF 4000) was ceremoniously handed over to the municipal fire department. After around three years of preparation, the time has finally come and the Bodenwerder local fire department can look forward to a modern device based on an 18-ton MAN chassis. The powerful Euro 6 engine with 320 hp ensures that the firefighters are always at the scene quickly.

The new TLF 4000 has an integrated water tank with a capacity of up to 5,000 liters. It also has a 200 liter foam tank, which is equipped with a permanently installed proportioner. Technical highlights, such as a powerful foam/water cannon on the roof and an extendable LED light mast, round off the vehicle. The fire brigade has really shown a good hand here, because the extensive special load includes everything your heart could desire, including a power generator, forest fire equipment, lighting equipment, a submersible pump and a chainsaw.

From old to new: A significant step for the fire department

The TLF 4000 replaces the old TLF 16/25 from 1992, which represents a huge step forward for the fire department. Local fire chief Jan Heuermann was also promoted to chief fire chief during the handover, another highlight that underlines the importance of this event. The public insurance company did not miss the opportunity to bring congratulations and a check, which further enhanced the festive setting of this handover.

During the group photo shoot, the unexpected happened: a hedge fire alarm (F1) sounded and the firefighters had to quickly switch from celebration to operational mode. Team spirit is very important in the fire department, and the spontaneous willingness to take action shows how seriously the task is taken.

Technical details and possible uses

The TLF 4000 is not only strong, but also versatile. Excellent extinguishing strategies can be developed with the powerful fire extinguishing centrifugal pumps, which operate with a nominal output of 2,000 l/min at 10 bar. Optionally, pressure proportioning systems or compressed air foam systems can be installed, which further expands the possible applications. Modern control technology, supported by the Schmitz CAN bus system, ensures easy handling.

The various adaptable drive options and construction methods, including lightweight aluminum construction with a variable aluminum profile system, guarantee optimal conditions. These vehicles are popular in many districts, including Ziegler, and offer industry-leading solutions to the challenges firefighters have to overcome in their daily operations.

After the exciting operation, all guests had the opportunity to look at the new vehicle up close. Such opportunities are important not only for the fire department and its members, but also for the entire community, which is protected by such modern fire and disaster prevention technology.
