Shooting festival in Holzen: New kings Elke Jansen and Marvin Uerkwitz proclaimed!
On July 8, 2025, the Holzen shooting club's royal and people's royal shooting competition took place in bright summer weather. At 7 p.m., chairman Manfred Schüttler opened the event, which attracted numerous guests. In addition to the mayor Silke Hage and representatives from the council and administration, Jürgen Twele, the vice president of the Holzminden district shooting association, was also on site. The evening was accompanied musically by DJ Sascha.
A total of 78 shooters, including many children with light dot rifles, competed in an exciting competition. Under the leadership of senior shooting sports director Detlef Mevers, supported by Heike Mevers and Elke Jansen, the new majesties were proclaimed. Marvin Uerkwitz and Elke Jansen were delighted to receive royal dignity and were enthusiastically celebrated.
The new majesties and their successes
Honors were awarded for both the main and youth categories. The reigning majesties for the year 2024/2025 are:
- Schützenkönig: Sascha Hoffmann (nicht anwesend)
- Schützenkönigin: Elke Jansen
- Volkskönige: Julia Rösner und Marco Uerkwitz
- Jugendkönig: Luca Jansen
There were many exciting placings in the individual ranking. Emilia Willers secured the Sports Director's Cup with 30.8 points, while Luca Jansen won the Kings' Cup (divider 142.7). Further outstanding performances were achieved by Melanie Hoffmann (Schützenring Queen, 98.1 rings) and Dirk Eiynck (Schützenringkönig, 97.7 rings).
Promote engagement and community
In addition to the sporting achievements, special recognition was also given. Elke Jansen, who excelled in youth work, received a pin of merit from the NSSI, while Wilfried Jansen was honored with the presidential pin in silver for his work on the festival committee. Detlef Ehm was honored for his special services.
Shooting clubs, like in Holzen, are more important than ever these days. They not only offer a counterpoint to fast pace and digitalization, but also promote community, tradition and responsibility. The activities within the clubs, be it training or traditional festivals, strengthen the connection to the homeland and offer meaningful leisure activities for children and young people sg-haiger.de reported.
The evening ended with singing the Lower Saxony song together and a celebration with free drinks until the early hours of the morning. This made it clear once again how important togetherness and tradition are in shooting.
This event shows that shooting clubs not only stand for competition, but also for community cohesion. If you've never been part of a shooting festival, you've definitely missed something!
