Excitement and enjoyment: A Corpse for the Celebration” delights in Stadtoldendorf!
The theater group of the Stadtoldendorf Music and Cultural Association really thrilled the audience with their crime dinner “A Corpse for the Celebration”. This joyful performance, which took place in the elementary school auditorium, attracted spectators to both the guest performances at create:hub Holzminden and the successful performances in their hometown. The tickets for the two dates on October 17th and 18th, 2025 were sold out quickly, and so the return to Stadtoldendorf was a triumph that attracted many visitors.
In Suse Singer's production, which adapted Christina Rothammer's play to the family circumstances of the Stadtoldendorf residents, the focus was on the aged film diva Gundula Bitterstein, portrayed by the talented Roswitha Thybaut-Belz. The story took a dramatic turn when Gundula invited her family to a dinner to announce an important change to her will. Suddenly she dies and it turns out that she was poisoned. Attentive viewers had the opportunity to actively participate in the investigation and discover the connection between the protagonists.
The exciting plot and its protagonists
The suspects are numerous: The housemaid Marie, played by Aileen Barth, becomes the main suspect, while Inspector Max Moser, portrayed by Gerd Minnich, leads the investigation. Angela Kubas shone in other roles as Eva Bitterstein and Dr. Jörg Hagenstein as the son Wolfgang, whose wife Carmen was played by Christin Hemeier and the notary Schmid, played by Paul Ehm. This insightful depiction of complications and intrigue ensured that the audience took on the role of co-investigators and had great fun puzzling along.
Mask and styling were professionally implemented by Gülhan Selcuk, while Ferdinand Schröder took care of the lighting and sound technology, which contributed to a harmonious atmosphere. At the end of the performance, the actors received thunderous applause, and many visitors expressed their wish for a repeat of this rousing evening.
