The situation escalated when the police intervened and sent off the younger man. But he ignored the order and instead resisted the attempt to arrest him. Amid the commotion, the 21-year-old slightly injured a police officer, which further inflamed the situation.

Police deployment and reinforcements

The 21-year-old's brother tried to help his sibling up by trying to free him from custody. Around 50 onlookers quickly gathered at the scene and watched what was happening. Given the tense situation, the police were forced to call for reinforcements. Support came from service dogs and the federal police, who ultimately helped calm the situation again in the early hours of the morning.

Subsequently, several criminal proceedings were initiated, which were not only directed against the 21-year-old, but possibly also against his brother. The events cast a shadow on the shooting festival and its peaceful tradition.

A worrying trend

Similar incidents, such as the events in Ebstorf, are not isolated. Just a few weeks earlier, on June 8, 2025, several violent clashes were also reported at shooting festivals in Stederdorf and Lengede. A 42-year-old man was the victim of an unexpected headbutt, while another man of the same age got into a fight with several unknown people. In Stederdorf there were also incidents with security guards who were insulted and injured.

These anomalies also appear to highlight a worrying trend that puts festive events in a different light. The police in Uelzen and other regions are continuing to investigate all cases and have called on the population to report suspects and to be vigilant.

The shooting festival in Ebstorf will definitely be remembered, not only because of the celebrations, but also because of the disturbing incidents that will remain in the memory of the visitors. Let's hope that this is the last incident of this kind and that such events can soon take place again in a peaceful setting.
