Gladiators Trier secure point guard Eli Brooks from Oldenburg!

In an exciting transfer, development player Eli Brooks has joined the VET-CONCEPT Gladiators Trier. The 25-year-old athlete is moving from EWE Baskets Oldenburg to the Rhineland-Palatinate city on the Moselle. With a height of 1.85 meters and a weight of 84 kilograms, Brooks brings a lot of talent and experience to the easyCredit BBL.

Born in 1998, Brooks began his basketball career at the University of Michigan, where he played an impressive 159 NCAA games between 2017 and 2022. In his final year there, he averaged 12.8 points and grabbed just under four rebounds per game with a solid 40 percent three-point shot. After his college days, Brooks moved to the G-League, where he played for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants and played 15 games in the 2022/23 season.

Successful station in Italy

In the following season (2023/24) he moved to Pallacanestro Trieste, where he played a key role in helping the team win the second division championship and gain promotion to the top Italian league. During this time, he averaged 14.5 points in over 31 minutes of playing time and became his team's second-best scorer. These outstanding performances did not go unnoticed: In the 2022-23 season, Brooks was named to the Eurobasket.com All-Italian Serie A2 Honorable Mention.

After his first year in Oldenburg, in which he played 14 main round games and two playoff games, he can look back on a record of 8.9 points, 3.0 assists and 2.1 rebounds per game. The shooting rate of 56.1% from the two-point range is remarkable, even if there is still room for improvement from the three-point line at 25%. A thumb injury caused a break, but he returned in time for the end of the season.
