There is news in the Oldenburg district that affects both emergency care and the rescue service structure. The organization of the locations for emergency medical vehicles (NEF) is currently being revised. As kreiszeitung.de reports, the previous Bookholzberg and Sandkrug locations will be merged to form a new location in Munderloh. Buchholzberg will therefore be dissolved, while the Sandkrug location will continue to exist.
The new NEF location will be set up in Munderloh/Heidhusen near the A28 motorway entrance in Hatten. A residential building in Munderloh is currently for sale and is being considered as a potential location. Frank Flake, the head of the emergency services, considers the situation to be suitable, but has also noted Kreszentia Flauger's concerns regarding the arrival times of the emergency doctors. Flake has stated that the arrival times in the Oldenburg district are generally adhered to.
Emergency care and deployment numbers
The number of emergency doctors deployed is falling, not only regionally, but also statewide and nationwide. This could be an indication that emergencies are shifting or alternative forms of care are becoming more effective. The cooperation with the city of Delmenhorst to station an additional emergency ambulance in Ganderkesee shows that they are also thinking outside the box and want to further optimize patient care. There are also plans to introduce a “community emergency paramedic” in Ganderkesee, which could provide additional support.
In an emergency, it is important to know when an emergency vehicle should be called. According to rd-lkol.de, the NEF is only alerted in special emergency situations when there is acute danger to life. Examples include heart attacks, severe shortness of breath or traffic accidents with dramatic injuries. In less critical emergencies, such as blood pressure imbalances, non-medical staff or the emergency medical service on number 116117 will take care of you.

In 2015 there were already 1,308 missions in Bookholzberg alone, while a total of 1,011 emergency doctor missions were recorded in Wildeshausen.
