150 years of Osterholzer Kreisblatt: Celebrate with great events!

An important milestone in the history of the regional press will soon be celebrated: this Osterholzer Kreisblatt turns 150 years old! The anniversary celebrations will open with an open day on June 26th from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the press house at Bördestraße 9. Here, interested visitors have the opportunity to get to know various departments and talk directly to employees.

A highlight of the program will be the freshly shot image film, which will be shown on site. The supporting program also includes musical performances by the Sax and Schmalz formations as well as culinary delicacies at anniversary prices, including French fries and bratwurst for just 1.50 euros.

Family friendly activities

The little guests are well catered for with a bouncy castle, craft station and a wheel of fortune. It's worth a visit because there's also a 15% discount on selected items in the shop, and the limited art print "The Osterholzer" is on offer. Another highlight: visitors can purchase tickets for the Werder-Traditionself game on September 13th. The exciting encounter will take place in the VSK Stadium, with former Bundesliga professionals in the squad.

But that's not all! On September 28th, the region can expect an open-air concert by the Bremen Philharmonic Orchestra at Gut Sandbeck, while on September 27th there will be a village festival as part of the autumn market - entry is free! And for water lovers there is swimming fun in the all-weather pool on July 30th from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the small price of 1 euro.

An eventful history

The Osterholzer Kreisblatt has a long and eventful history in the local media landscape. It goes back to the Stade Intelligence Sheet from 1830. The first newspaper in the Osterholz district was published in 1875 by the Saade printing company and has changed several times since then. Originally started as a weekly newspaper, the district newspaper was published daily from 1883 and today has a monopoly position in regional daily reporting.

However, with a circulation of 8,589 copies, the newspaper has faced a decline of 41.1% in recent decades since 1998. Despite these challenges, the newspaper remains an essential part of the community, providing information about local events from Monday to Saturday.

Events and outlook

A concert in the customer center with the duo White Rose Transmission is planned for December 18th, close to the Kreisblatt's birthday. Tickets for all of these events will be available both on site and online from June 27th. The anticipation of the anniversary is palpable and the events are sure to be a complete success.

The Osterholzer Kreisblatt has managed to adapt to the changing media landscapes and has kept its finger on the pulse of the digital world since it entered Facebook in 2015. A look at the history and the exciting future plans not only gives rise to nostalgia, but also great anticipation for the upcoming festivities in the run-up to the big anniversary.
