On November 3rd, 2025 we will look back at the latest developments in the Osterholz district, and the OSTERHOLZER KREISBLATT has many exciting topics to report this year too. The regional newspaper, which has been reporting on local events since 1875, offers us insights into the past years and their significant changes. Let's remember the articles from 2015 and 2005, which are still relevant today.
The renovation of Kreisstraße 35 in Vollersode began in November 2015, a project that was budgeted at 1.5 million euros. Interesting discoveries were made during the work: boulders lying in the area of the stormwater sewer route caused a stir. Construction engineer Thomas Mehrtens and technician Frank Schmidt reported on these discoveries while the work, which started on August 3rd, took four months. A total of 700 meters of the K 35 was equipped with a new road surface, while a second construction phase with a further 900 meters and two rain retention basins was already planned for the spring.

A look at the year 2005 shows that intensive work was also being done on the regional infrastructure back then. A residential and commercial building on the Sparkasse roundabout in Osterholz-Scharmbeck was under construction, and the topping-out ceremony was to be celebrated at the beginning of December. Completion was scheduled for May 1 of the following year. What was also exciting was the reopening of a relief road in Bremervörde, which, after two years of construction, now represents a 2.9 kilometer long connection between federal highway 71/74 and Gnarrenburger Straße. This measure was intended to calm traffic and reduce up to 4,200 cars per day.
