Scharmbeck Rifle Club: Cheers and celebrations for the 185th festival weekend!

The shooting festival in Osterholz-Scharmbeck is just around the corner and with it the tradition of the Scharmbeck shooting club, which is celebrating its 185th festival this year. The festival takes place from Friday, July 4th to Sunday, July 6th at the Schützenhof, and the anticipation in the city is already palpable. The Anzeiger Verlag reports that the festival will be ceremoniously opened on Friday evening at 6 p.m.

The “Schools Out Party” in the marquee from 9 p.m. will be particularly exciting. Entry costs just 5 euros, and there is a special offer of 25 euros for groups of six people. This creates an atmosphere right from the start of the festival that is guaranteed to invite you to celebrate.

A colorful program

Saturday starts with a market from 3 p.m., before dancing in the marquee, where guests can experience the “Malle Queen” Ina Colada and the party band “Play High” from 9 p.m. Additional highlights await on Sunday: from 11 a.m. the “Bavarian Morning Pint” will be celebrated with the Lilienthal brass orchestra, followed by a traditional parade from 12 p.m., which forms the heart of the festival.

There is also a lot on offer in terms of cuisine. In addition to ice cream and pretzels, there are various snack options, and the drinks are served by the Moor Event company from Worpswede. A true feast for all the senses!

Tradition meets modernity

The origins of the shooting festivals go back to the Middle Ages. How Germany celebrates shows, they were initially organized by shooting guilds to promote community and proclaim a new shooting king. The first recorded shooting festival took place in Cologne in 1316 and is considered an important part of German tradition.

The diversity of these folk festivals can also be experienced at this year's shooting festival in Osterholz-Scharmbeck: from shooting competitions that spectators can follow in real time, to child-friendly attractions such as the bumper car, the children's carousel and duck fishing. There are also many program items for younger visitors - such as the bouncy castle and face painting, which are available on Sunday from 2 p.m.

In summary, it can be said that the 185th Schützenfest in Osterholz-Scharmbeck invites you to both celebrate and feel a sense of community. Definitely worth a visit, whether you're an experienced shooter or just a party-loving visitor. So, let’s celebrate – the Schützenfest will certainly be an unforgettable experience for everyone!
