Summer festival in Teufelsmoor: games, fun and chicken bingo!
The summer festival in Teufelsmoor is a real highlight in the region's event calendar and attracted numerous visitors at the weekend. On July 6th and 7th, the Schützenhalle in Teufelsmoor, located in the village of Kleine Reihe 6, was transformed into a pulsating center of colorful activity. The two-day celebration began on Saturday with the “Koffetied in Düwelsmoor” reception and an exciting raffle. In the evening, green meadows and a cheerful barbecue evening with dancing and cocktails invited people to socialize.
The weather was pleasant, as befits a summer festival, with temperatures above 20 degrees Celsius. However, overcast skies ensured ideal conditions rather than a diminishing mood. The event has been organized by the Teufelsmoor cultural club since the early 2000s and now attracts guests from the surrounding area and further away, as could be seen from the various license plates.
Diverse offers for young and old
On Sunday, July 7th, the festival started at 11 a.m. with a rural farm market that featured a colorful selection of plants, wind chimes, jewelry, honey, clay works and even smoked fish. For those who enjoy browsing, there was a small flea market that was intended to remind people of what the region has to offer.
The festival had all sorts of attractions for the children: bouncy castles, face painting and numerous games made faces smile. The “Chicken Bingo” was particularly popular, in which the pullet “Wild Hilde” caused excitement by placing her “blobs” on the correct fields. In addition, the Teufelsmoor volunteer fire department offered the children the opportunity to test their courage when extinguishing fires “in the playhouse” and to see their fire-fighting team vehicle.
Sporting and cultural highlights
An international beach volleyball tournament rounded off the festival, with eleven teams from countries such as New Zealand, Rwanda, North Korea and Brazil competing on the field. Sports fans could look forward to a real spectacle. The Osterholz-Scharmbeck archery community invited visitors to try their hand at archery and put their skills to the test.
The artisans' offerings on the paved courtyard were a source of amazement. Among them was Torsten Schröder, who sold various types of honey from the moor. The crowning finale was a coffee and cake buffet, where visitors could choose from 38 different home-baked delicacies, dumplings and cakes.
