On Friday, June 23, 2025, the primary school in Vechelde celebrated the ceremonial opening of its new extension. Numerous guests gathered for this occasion, including Mayor Tobias Grünert, political representatives, the school management, the student council and the school parents' council. A real highlight of the event was the symbolic cutting of a red ribbon, which was the official starting signal for the modern extension regionalheute.de reported.
The new premises impress with a gross floor area of 641 square meters and offer space for five grade three classes, a total of 102 students. The modern facilities include five classrooms, a teacher's room, a teaching material room, as well as material and cleaning material rooms. In addition, the sanitary facilities are designed to be barrier-free. The building is powered by its own photovoltaic system, a heat pump for heating and central air conditioning for cooling. In total, the costs for construction and furnishing amount to around 3,775,000 euros.
Modern learning environment for students
Another highlight are the specially equipped classrooms, which have their own exit to the outdoor area, electric blinds, smart boards and fast WiFi. A commendable note is that new furniture will be provided for the classrooms and the outdoor area with lounge and play areas will be completed during the summer holidays.
