Schaumburg's vaulting star Anna Kaufmann narrowly misses the podium!

The vaulting and riding community Schaumburger-Land e.V. presented itself impressively at the Lower Saxony state championship. Anna Kaufmann, the club's first vaulter, took part in this exciting competition and impressed with her discipline. After a solid performance in the qualification, where she took fifth place, she improved in the final and took fourth place - just 0.3 points short of a podium place. The trainer Katrin Barnert and the assistant trainer Leonie Kern were visibly proud of Anna's strong performance.

Originally, Anna's participation in the Children's Trophy, which was open to vaulters born between 2012 and 2016, served to check her own level of performance. Already in the qualifying tournaments in Hohenhameln and Bassum she was able to qualify for the exciting final in fifth place. On the final day, June 22nd, she showed how much talent she has in both the compulsory and the freestyle.

The fascination of vaulting

What makes vaulting so special? This fascinating sport combines acrobatics and equestrian sports. Vaulting not only requires impressive body tension and mobility, but also a strong feeling for the horse. The sport requires harmonious cooperation between the vaulter and an experienced lunge handler, all on a galloping horse. Historically, the sport of vaulting has its origins in the 1950s, and a lot has happened since then - from the first German Championships in 1963 to international competitions such as the World Championships.

VRG Schaumburger-Land e.V. has celebrated numerous successes over the years, including the titles of regional champion 2024 in the L groups and in the step group. The club, which was founded on October 25, 2019, has over 40 members and trains at various locations. In addition to the regular training sessions on the gelding Momo and the mares Ramina and Vlora, the young vaulters can also enjoy an electronic wooden horse called “MOVIE”, which supports the training sessions.

A club with a future

With around 35 children aged 4 to 18 in four different groups, the VRG Schaumburger-Land is a lively part of the equestrian community. The committed instructors and regular participation in tournaments, competitions and courses show that the club is on the right track. For anyone interested in vaulting, the club offers the opportunity for a non-binding trial training session. Anyone interested can find out more about what's on offer and get a first impression on the club's website.
