FC Verden 04 triumphs 4-1 in the charity game for children's hospice!
On Saturday, July 5, 2025, TSV Lohberg was able to celebrate a very special event: a charity game against FC Verden 04, which was of great importance both for sport and for a good cause. In bright sunshine, over 1,000 spectators came to watch the game and thus support the Löwenherz children's hospice in Syke. This facility offers essential help for children, adolescents and young adults with life-limiting illnesses and their families.
The friendly encounter ended with a 4-1 win for the Oberliga team from Verden. TSV Lohberg initially took a deserved 1-0 lead through Sascha Genee. Not long afterwards, Nathanael Amo-Mensah equalized to make it 1-1, with which the two teams went into the half-time break. FC Verden 04's coach Tim Ebersbach was pleased with his team's reaction, despite initial fatigue after an intensive week of training.
Performance improvement and comebacks
After halftime, Ebersbach changed the team and gave all players the opportunity to show what they can do on the pitch. Bastian Reiners' goal made it 2-1, followed by newcomer Mamadou Diop, who decided the game with two more goals in favor of the Verden team. The return of Phil Sarrasch, Philipp Eggert and Felix Westphal after injury-related absences gave the team additional impetus.
“We have to keep a careful eye on the load management for our returning players,” said Ebersbach after the game. Despite the clear victory, he emphasized that there was still room for improvement and praised the commitment of Philipp Breves, who plays an important role in the team. The coach was also satisfied with the organizational aspects of the event and noted that the mood within the team is good.
A big step for the children's hospice
The ticket proceeds from the game go directly to supporting the Löwenherz children's hospice. With prices of EUR 8 for adults, EUR 4 for young people and free entry for children under 12, access to the event was created for many fans to work together for a good cause. In addition to the game, there were also various food stands where spectators could fortify themselves with drinks, bratwursts and fries.
As part of TSV Lohberg's 50th anniversary, the event showed how sport and community come together to do good. The consistently positive response and the high number of spectators indicate that such events will continue to be very popular in the future. The success of the charity game not only benefits the Löwenherz children's hospice, but also brings the local football community closer together.
