Lost property auction in Achim: Citizens help children in need!

Last Saturday, a lively lost and found auction took place in the foyer of the Achim town hall, which thrilled both young and old. The event was led by Mayor Rainer Ditzfeld and citizen participation was higher than ever before. The Achimers had the opportunity to choose from a colorful selection of auctioned items, which included everything from bicycles to bags to e-scooters.

All 58 bicycles that were up for auction found a new owner, which was another sign of the great participation of citizens. The remaining stocks that were not auctioned were taken over by the community foundation, which will repair the bicycles for refugees. This shows that community is very important in Achim.

With heart for the children

Particularly worth mentioning is the connection to the community foundation's wishing tree campaign, which is taking place for the tenth time this year. Ditzfeld emphasized that the goal of this campaign is to bring joy to children in need at Christmas. The gifts, which should be worth between 20 and 25 euros, can be handed in at the citizens' office until December 5th. Used clothing and toys are also welcome here.

The auction began with a children's trolley, which surprisingly sold for 37 euros. A pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses and a pink Adidas sports bag also found a new owner for twelve euros each. In total, proceeds of 1,588 euros were achieved, which will certainly help to support the community foundation's upcoming projects.

Achim shows that the interaction between citizens, the city and committed institutions such as the community foundation works. So when you think about your next Christmas shopping, this could be a nice opportunity to open your heart to the community. Maybe you'll find something among the gifts for a lovely little person who would be happy about the surprise.
