Autumn program of the KVHS Verden: Artificial intelligence in focus!

The Verden District Adult Education Center (KVHS) presented its fall program today, and the focus is on a topic that is very popular in the digital world: artificial intelligence (AI). Nina Gern, the new head of the KVHS, presents her first program and is convinced that AI will remain a central topic for the next ten years. Gitta Stahl, team leader for the open program, emphasizes that the new course offering aims to highlight both the opportunities and risks of AI and to promote critical thinking among the participants. According to kreiszeitung.de, the offer is supplemented by a course on legal security, which enables participants to use this technology safely.

The summer season couldn't be introduced more appropriately, as KVHS has already addressed the needs of its learners in the past. A special highlight of the program is the new course “Qualification as a tour guide”, which enables participants to position themselves in the tourism industry. In addition, the event series “FactsSure for Democracy” is being organized in cooperation with ARD, which offers free online impulse lectures on journalistic work and democracy.

Diverse offers for every taste

The KVHS has even more to offer: nature lovers can look forward to the “Plan cycling and hiking tours with the Komoot app” course. There will also be free lectures with the Lower Saxony Consumer Center that will deal with energy efficiency and balcony power plants. Another exciting course offered in the area of health and sport is “Understanding High Sensitivity and Using Strengths”.

Registration is required for those seeking a secondary or secondary school qualification, with a placement test taking place on August 11th. There is also a new language course for the professional field of care and everyday support, which begins on August 18th in Achim. Individual job coaching is also offered on an ongoing basis, and there is a special job language course (BSK) for retail that focuses on everyday vocabulary.

Financial support and future developments

The financing of the language courses is secured by funding from the federal and state governments of Lower Saxony. The SEG-Flex 2025 program will also provide research funding for language courses for participants with no prior knowledge and illiteracy. A professional language course with the target language level B2 is also being planned, which will prepare the KVHS well for the current developments in migration policy.

An obstacle that is currently affecting many educational institutions is the backlog of participants due to the war in Ukraine, but the KVHS is in a comfortable position and, according to kvhs-verden.de, has no difficulties finding suitable lecturers.

The wide range of events on artificial intelligence shows that the KVHS is actively taking the initiative in this area. For example, the KVHS is offering an introduction to the practical applications of AI, which will take place on September 23, 2025 and include a workshop. Special courses are also offered on topics such as “AI: Using ChatGPT effectively” or “AI: The digital toolbox for the job”.

The KVHS not only ensures a diverse but also a future-oriented education that is more than ready for the challenges of digitalization. With a colorful mix of creative and targeted courses, learners have a bright future ahead of them.
