More Helgoland trips 2026: News from Adler & Eils for Hooksiel!
There is good news for everyone who wants to explore the island paradise of Helgoland! The shipping company Adler & Eils from Büsum is also planning a large number of excursion trips from Jade to Helgoland for 2026. Managing director Jannes Piepgras has announced that the timetable is currently being developed and is expected to be published at the end of January. Compared to last year, there will be more dates, even if Hooksiel is not visited on every trip.
The planned trips with the catamaran “Adler Cat” start from Hooksiel and Wilhelmshaven. Guests can look forward to two to three trips per week, especially on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. In the summer months of July and August there are even double tours on Friday and Saturday. However, ferry traffic from Hooksiel could be restricted due to the tide-dependent access to the outer harbor. If the water level is low, the catamaran may not be able to head to Hooksiel.
Travel times and procedures
The exact travel times will vary as they are influenced by the forces of nature on the North Sea. This means that the arrival and departure times may vary by +/- 15 minutes. The ferry crossing from Cuxhaven to Helgoland takes around 150 minutes, while the catamaran covers the route in around 75 minutes. This means there is enough time for a relaxing stay on the island where you can enjoy the beauty of Helgoland.
And that's not all! On certain dates the catamaran also leaves directly from the ferry port, which makes the trip even more comfortable. To ensure that nothing goes wrong, it is recommended that you check the timetables in advance, as longer loading and unloading times may occasionally occur.
Variety of ferry connections
The connection between Helgoland and other North Sea islands is also diverse. If you want to travel from Hamburg, for example, you have the option of driving via Wedel or Cuxhaven. The travel time varies between 3 and 3.75 hours, depending on the departure times chosen. Cuxhaven also offers both fast and longer ferry connections, which are available at different times from January to October.
Here is an overview of some of the ferry routes that operate on the North Sea:
| Port of departure | Destination port | Travel time | traffic period |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cuxhaven | Heligoland | approx. 1:15 hours | April to October |
| Büsum | Heligoland | approx. 2:30 hours | April to October |
| Wilhelmshaven | Heligoland | approx. 3 hours | End of June to beginning of September |
| Hamburg | Heligoland | approx. 3:45 hours | April to October |
With so many options that are either relaxing or adventurous, there is a connection to suit every traveler. Regardless of whether you want to enjoy nature and smell the fresh sea breeze or are looking for a quick trip, the 2026 season promises to be exciting.
