Tigers celebrate brilliant 6-0 win against Wolfsburg – Hede shines!
The Straubing Tigers achieved a brilliant win against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg on Sunday evening. With a clear 6-0 they were not only able to secure the points, but also thrilled the spectators in the sold-out ice stadium at the Pulverturm. A total of 5,635 fans came to cheer on their team and were rewarded with a spectacular performance.
Particular attention was paid to the player Elis Hede, who shone with two goals and an assist. Marcel Brandt was also happy because his goal marked his 250th scorer point in the Tigers jersey. Before the game there was also a ceremonial honor for Stephan Daschner, who played his 700th DEL game.
Gameplay and highlights
The Tigers, who were in second place in the table with 30 points before the game, got off to a lightning start. Nick Halloran scored the first goal in the third minute, followed by Brandt and Hede, who increased the lead to 3-0 in the first period. The pressure remained constant in the second third, which was reflected in further goals from Mario Zimmermann and Hede again. Wade Allison finally scored the final point to make it 6-0.
Goalkeeper Henrik Haukeland celebrated his third shutout of the day and once again proved that he is a strong backup for the Tigers. A few penalties in the final phase of the game, including against Jacob Hayhurst and Alex Green, couldn't hurt Straubinger's dominant performance. Coming challenges
The Tigers will now try to carry their momentum into the next games. The duel against ERC Ingolstadt is on Wednesday, followed by an encounter with the Nuremberg Ice Tigers on Friday. The following Sunday it’s “For the city!” when the Dresden Ice Lions are guests.
With the strong performance against Wolfsburg, the Tigers are consolidating their ambitious course to be at the top of the DEL rankings and further reduce the gap to the top of the table. Fans and players are already looking forward to the upcoming games and celebrating further successes.
