Arminia Bielefeld demolishes Havelse: New signing shines in the test match!

On Thursday evening, July 14, 2025, DSC Arminia Bielefeld thrilled their fans with a furious 7-1 win in the test match against third division newcomers TSV Havelse. The event took place at the training ground on Friedrich-Hagemann-Straße and attracted around 800 spectators who were able to experience exciting football action and lots of goals.

Arminia's offense was very energetic in the early stages. Marvin Mehlem, who has recently joined the team, set up the first goal early on, scored by Benjamin Boakye in the 6th minute. Joel Felix extended the lead to 2-0 in the 21st minute with a header from a corner from Tim Handwerker. Sarenren Bazee increased the score to 3-0 shortly before the end of the first half (32nd minute). Coach Mitch Kniat was pleased with the high intensity and the combinations that the team had rehearsed well, which was also reflected in the clear halftime score.

A new face and a positive gut feeling

A new face in the team is the offensive player, who appeared in the Arminia jersey for the first time against Havelse. He expressed his enthusiasm for the color blue, which he particularly likes, and described the jersey as beautiful. He previously played on loan at SC Paderborn in the second half of the season and looks back on a “nice time”, even if some games cost him a relegation place. His decision to join Arminia was a gut feeling and was based on a positive impression from last year when Bielefeld played the third division season. The conversations with Michael Mutzel and Mitch Kniat in particular convinced him to join this team.

In the second half, Arminia continued its offensive drive. Sarenren Bazee scored again before Julian Kania made it 5-0 with a penalty (65th minute). Havelse finally scored a consolation goal through Vladislav Cherny (81st minute), but Daniel Richter restored the old gap with two more goals (88th and 89th minute).

Preparations are in full swing

Mitch Kniat's team has made good progress in preparation and this has also been shown in the previous test matches: after a 5:1 against SC Verl II and a 2:2 against Wiedenbrück, the clear win against Havelse was the third in a row. There is great anticipation for the further test games, another one will take place on Wednesday in St. Sigmund/Kiens against the Austrian third division team SC Imst. There will also be another duel against 1. FC Nürnberg in Brixen on the following Saturday.

In the upcoming season, Arminia Bielefeld will compete in the 2nd Bundesliga and the current ranking is in 4th place with zero games played. It will be exciting to see whether the good form from the friendlies will carry over into the championship.
