Construction work at the University Center: bus routes affected and stops relocated!
In Bochum it's all happening in the University Center from Monday, October 6th. Extensive construction work will begin there and will take around six weeks. Unfortunately, this also means some changes to bus transport, which pose new challenges for both students and residents.
As radiobochum.de reports, numerous bus routes are affected. More specifically, these are lines 339, 344, 346, 356, 358, 370, 372, 374 as well as the NachtExpress lines NE7, NE8 and NE17. The Unicenter stop will not be served during the work. Instead, passengers can use the Hallenbad Querenburg stop, which will be relocated to Schinkelstrasse. A replacement stop will also be set up at the health campus for lines 356 and 339.
Changed stops
Passengers on lines 344, 346, 370, 374, NE7, NE8 and NE17 are particularly affected. The Ruhr-Universität stop will be relocated to Hustadtring at number 141 and opposite. There is a special feature for line 370: This will begin and end on Sundays at bus platform 5 on the administration side.
Lines 358 and 372 will also not be spared from the changes during construction work. Your stop will be moved to the existing Ruhr-Universität stop on platform 5 below the administration. Another report from bochum-journal.de mentions that passengers need to be made to understand this change. BOGESTRA recommends that users use the toll-free service number 0800 6/50 40 30 around the clock so as not to miss any important news.
Additional traffic adjustments
Due to this construction work, there will also be further diversions in rail traffic. For example, a replacement rail service will be set up between Bochum Hbf and the Vonovia Ruhrstadion. The exact stop changes can be found on the BOGESTRA website, as well as many details about the construction work in the tunnel and the changes to the switches, which are listed in bogestra.de.
Aside from the challenges posed by these changes, it is clear that Bochum is actively committed to modernizing and improving its infrastructure. Everyone who relies on local public transport should therefore inform themselves in good time and use the alternatives that will be available in the coming period.
We will continue to keep you updated on developments and any changes. Stay tuned!
