Festival Bochum Total 2025: New bands create a great atmosphere!

It's busy again in Bochum because the popular free and outdoor festival “Bochum Total” is just around the corner. On July 3, 2025, the 38th edition of the festival will be celebrated in the heart of the Ruhr area. This event has become an important highlight of the music scene in recent years and regularly attracts visitors from near and far. The city center and the world-famous Bermuda3Eck become a musical playground. Derwest reports that the first wave of bands was released in May and is now followed by a second wave with 23 new artists.

The list of confirmed artists reads like a who’s who of the music scene. From Alex Mofa Gang to Boppin B to the newcomers Rowu and Molo LM - there is something for every musical taste. Bochum Total highlights that there are also some special highlights waiting for visitors: The popular bands ZSK, a fixture in the skate punk scene, and the cult Mambo Kurt have announced their arrival. ZSK is even particularly popular as a highlight among punk-loving fans. The third wave of bands promises additional highlights with acts like FLØRE and Joya.

Community and good atmosphere

The anticipation for the festival is already palpable, and positive comments from fans on the official Instagram page are giving the event an additional flair. Estimates indicate that more than a hundred thousand music lovers took part in the four days of the festival last year - an increase compared to the previous year. Once again, the festival is supported by a team of dedicated helpers, including Johanniter-Unfall-Hilfe e.V. as well as the fire department and police. This great collaboration ensures that the celebrations are always peaceful and respectful.

The weather-related challenges were a small downer. It rained non-stop on Sunday, but no one let it spoil the mood. Apparently the Cologne cheerfulness has also left its mark in Bochum! GReeeN and the cheerful Mambo Kurt thrilled the crowd with their performances despite the uncomfortable weather.

A look into the future

The festival has a long history that began in 1986 with two stages. It has since developed into one of the largest rock-pop festivals in Europe and offers a wide range of artists the opportunity to present themselves. Around 1,300 artists apply every year. From jazz to hard rock, everything is represented here. Wikipedia reveals that bands that are known today, such as Donots or Silbermond, once played many of their first concerts on these stages.

With the announcement that next year the motto will be “See today what you will hear tomorrow”, the anticipation for the upcoming festival remains unbroken. The organizers would like to thank everyone involved in making “Bochum Total” an unforgettable experience. And so it says again: Off to Bochum, where music and good mood collide!
