Holiday internships for young people: Free opportunities in the Borken district!

In North Rhine-Westphalia, exciting opportunities for young people aged 15 and over are on the program under the motto “holiday internship weeks”. The initiative, which will start in the Borken district in the next few weeks, offers young people the opportunity to complete one- to three-day short internships in over 100 regional companies. And the best part? Neither a CV nor certificates are required to register - a good start into the professional world, without much effort! As presse-service.de reports, interested parties can register until July 11, 2025 at www.praktikumswoche.de/borken.

With this campaign, young people have the freedom to decide for themselves which professional fields they would like to try out. The “matching” between students and companies is very simple: if both sides agree, an internship is guaranteed. The Borken district administration would also like to offer insights into the professional field of “administration” on selected days in July. This initiative not only contributes to professional orientation, but also aims to counteract the shortage of skilled workers in the region.

A network for the future

The holiday internship weeks are part of a comprehensive program that is carried out in all 53 districts and independent cities in North Rhine-Westphalia. The cooperation between the ministries of economics, education and labor shows how seriously the state government takes the issue of a shortage of skilled workers. In particular, the framework conditions of the state initiative “No qualification without connection” (KAoA) make the transition from school to work easier for young people, as mags.nrw emphasizes.

The importance of internships in career orientation is becoming clearer than ever, especially in view of the current analysis of the skilled worker situation in North Rhine-Westphalia. A study that was carried out in collaboration with the German Youth Institute and the Technical University of Dortmund highlights, among other things, the challenges in child and youth welfare. With a total number of around 208,700 people and a forecast additional personnel requirement of up to 20,000 employees by 2030, there is a clear need to inspire young people for social professions, as land.nrw shows.

A call to participate

The holiday internship weeks, which are also under the patronage of Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst, are not only a great opportunity for young people to gain practical experience, but also a step in the right direction in the fight against the shortage of skilled workers. So if you are still looking for a trial day or a short internship, you should take advantage of the opportunity and register as soon as possible. After all: There is something there, and a good hand for your own professional opportunities is worth its weight in gold!
