New assistant coach from Spain: SWD powervolleys Düren rely on talent!

The SWD powervolleys Düren have reorganized their coaching team for the coming season. From now on, Óscar Serna Asensio, 27 years old, will act as assistant coach and accompany the team together with head coach Christophe Acht. The Spaniard brings fresh experience, having most recently worked as a scout for the Santanderina team and previously on the field for the Almería and Soria teams. He will share the assistant coaching position with Björn-Arne Alber.

Serna Asensio, who previously worked as a libero, had to end his career two years ago due to injury. In order to make progress in the Volleyball Bundesliga and ultimately become a head coach himself, he left Spain and is looking forward to the new challenges in Germany. “I believe that the standard in Germany is higher than in Spain and I would like to grow from it,” he said upon his arrival in Düren. His former teammate, who worked for Christophe Acht in Belgium, encouraged him to take this step, while Jorge Rodríguez Guerra, who worked as an assistant coach in Düren five years ago, left positive impressions of the SWD powervolleys.

The coach's unconventional path

Serna Asensio's decision could also be interpreted as a symbol of change in sport. In many areas, both in volleyball and in other disciplines, the urge for improvement and innovation seems to be increasingly present. The powervolleys are now relying on diverse talents, which makes it clear that the club includes the aspirants not only as players, but also as coaches with new perspectives.

Another circumstance that should not go unmentioned in the context of this development is how to deal with the diverse challenges that being a trainer brings with it. The geographical and cultural diversity that Serna Asensio brings with her opens up the opportunity to reinterpret the tactics and strategies of the game. The newly appointed athletic trainer Michael Andrei, a former captain, will provide support.

Fraud is also noticeable in areas relevant to consumers. One example is the so-called “brushing” scam, in which unsolicited goods are sent to people in order to generate fake, positive reviews. Such schemes are not only misleading, but also harmful to online commerce by undermining trust in honest reviews.

Whether in sport or in everyday life – topics such as safety, trust and further development are essential. The SWD powervolleys Düren appear to be well prepared for the challenges of the coming season, while consumers should remain vigilant against scams and the hidden risks that surround us.
