Festival D’Italia: A weekend full of Italian culture in Düsseldorf!

This weekend in Düsseldorf the second round of the Festival D'Italia is going full force, bringing Italian culture, music and cuisine to the city. From September 12th to 14th, 2025, the Lower Rhine Shipyard between casemates and Apollo meadows will be transformed into a colorful festival for all the senses. What's special: Admission is free on all days!

The festival offers a diverse program that includes over 35 exhibitors and around 30 artists. Visitors can look forward to Italian delicacies such as porchetta as well as sweet treats such as cannoli. Of course, lovers of Italian wines don't miss out, and live music creates the right ambience. The organizer Lidia Di Raimondo, who has family roots in Sicily, promises not only culinary highlights but also new artistic performances that will sweeten the autumn.

Artistic highlights and social actions

A special highlight will be the artistic performance “La Donna e il Fiume”, which began on July 24th in Palermo and will now continue in Düsseldorf. This performance is a tribute to women who crossed rivers and seas and is accompanied by a live, completed work of art by artist Walter Maria Padao. The performance starts on Friday, September 12th at 7:30 p.m. and will be led by Mayor Dr. Stephan Keller welcomes. The artwork will then be auctioned off for the benefit of the Borgo di Dio youth and cultural center in Palermo, which also makes the festival a social event.

Musical highlights include tenor Ricardo Marinello, who will give a final concert on Sunday, September 14th at 7:30 p.m. This is not only a celebration for the population, but also an opportunity to connect with Italian culture.

Opening times and further information

Festival hours are Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. The mayor Dr. Stephan Keller has taken over the patronage of the festival, which attracted over 50,000 visitors last year. This year the organizers will apparently go one step further to properly celebrate the Italian lifestyle in Düsseldorf!
