The city has decided to transfer the planning and construction tasks to Immobilien Projekt Management Düsseldorf GmbH (IPM). The tender for the basic determination and preliminary planning is now being prepared with a budget of 22.2 million euros, which includes both the IPM and external engineering and consulting services. This much is certain: the new bridge will be more than just a mode of transport; it also carries the idea of ​​sustainability.

Green Bridge: A sustainable concept

The innovative design team, consisting of RKI Architects, RKW Architektur + and JLL, has developed an ambitious concept called “Green Bridge”. Motorized traffic is to be relocated to a four-lane tube that will create a landscape park above the Rhine. In addition, a cycle highway as well as sustainable living spaces, a hotel and office space are planned. This design not only takes the environment into consideration, but also increases the quality of life of Düsseldorf residents.

The bridge will be equipped with modern technologies: wind turbines will be used to generate energy, and photovoltaic systems in the superstructure will provide additional electricity.
