Important A46 bridge in Düsseldorf: Two full closures are pending!

Anyone planning to use the A46 near Düsseldorf in the coming weeks should be prepared for some restrictions. On Friday, June 27, 2025, the motorway between the Düsseldorf-Bilk and Neuss-Uedesheim junctions will be completely closed from 10 p.m. until Monday, June 30, 2025, at 5 a.m. These are not short-term measures, but rather part of planned construction work to ensure road safety. Loud 24Rhine Rope tests and corrosion protection work on the Flehe Rhine bridge are on the agenda.

After the first full closure, traffic will be handled under restricted conditions from June 30th until probably July 14th, 2025. During this time, only two lanes will be open in each direction. Anyone traveling in the region must therefore expect a changed traffic situation. On Friday, August 1, 2025, there will be another full closure from 10 p.m. to Monday, August 4, 2025, for corrosion protection and final work, see above RP Online.

Why these measures are important

Regular bridge inspections are the be-all and end-all when it comes to the safety and condition of engineering structures. According to the guidelines of DIN 1076, these tests should be carried out comprehensively every six years, while intermediate tests and annual visual inspections are essential for safety. These measures serve the early detection of damage and the timely planning of renovations. Various testing techniques, including the use of drones and mobile work platforms, play a central role, especially when it comes to components that are difficult to access Biberger.

In addition to the A46, the A59 near Duisburg will also be completely closed in both directions for a month from the end of July. These extensive measures are crucial in order to keep the affected bridges in a safe condition in the long term and thus guarantee traffic safety for all users.

The diversions during the closures will be signposted and lead via the A57, A1 (Rheinbrücke Leverkusen) and A3. Drivers should therefore allow sufficient time to avoid possible delays and be prepared to follow the signposted detours. Stay tuned and drive safely!
