In Duisburg-Homberg, the Helios Rhein Clinic has successfully completed the move to its new premises. From now on, patients can find the necessary rehabilitation in a modern environment here at Johannisstraße 21, Duisburg-Homberg. This move, which was officially completed on July 1, 2025, brought over 50 beds and numerous medical devices to the new building, which is located in the same complex as the Helios Acute Care Clinic. Around 90 bedside tables and many boxes were brought to the new location, while around 50 patients were safely cared for during the move. Many of them left the old building either on foot or in wheelchairs, being provided with bottled water in the early morning heat.

“With the new location, we not only have a central location in a residential area, but also optimal shopping opportunities and parks nearby,” reports Birger Meßthaler, the clinic manager of the Helios Rhein Clinic. The barrier-free accessibility of the new location by public transport and car is another plus point. Local click emphasizes that the move was carefully planned to keep the burden on very elderly patients as low as possible. The modern equipment also ensures improved recovery.

Increased focus on collaboration

A significant advantage of the new premises is the physical proximity to the Helios acute care clinic, which enables closer collaboration between the two facilities. In the future, rehabilitation patients will be able to benefit directly from the acute experts on site. The usual contact persons and the range of services will be retained, so that care will continue to be provided by the tried and tested employees of the Helios Rhein Klinik. Helios health also informs that the wards at the new location have been modernized and expanded in order to better meet the needs of the geriatric patient population.

There is now also a small therapy garden available for patients, which invites them to relax and unwind. Dr. Thomas Zeile, the medical director, highlights the smooth transition and the support of the entire team during the move. The clinic not only wants to improve its medical care, but also promote direct connections to the social offerings in the district.

The move will also mean that the empty building on Ahrstrasse, which housed the old clinic, will make room for modern housing.
