Kidnapping scandal: Christina Block in the trial for her children!

The trial surrounding the kidnapping of two children of Hamburg entrepreneur Christina Block remains extremely exciting. On July 15, 2025, the hearing at the Hamburg Regional Court was interrupted. Originally, 37 days of trial were scheduled until the end of the year, but the next session will now take place on July 25th Radio Ennepe Ruhr reported.

Christina Block is accused of ordering the kidnapping of her own children from Denmark. The children were staying with their father, Stephan Hensel, the defendant's ex-husband, in Denmark. The whole drama is the result of a years-long custody dispute that ultimately resulted in a violent kidnapping. In addition to Christina Block, six other people, including her partner and former sports presenter Gerhard Delling, are co-accused. All defense lawyers firmly rejected the allegations against their clients in their opening statements.

Process of the custody dispute

The story began in 2014 with the separation of Christina Block and Stephan Hensel. The official divorce followed in 2018, which resulted in a total of four children: three daughters and a son. In July 2021, the eldest daughter moved to Denmark with her father at her own request. In August 2021, two of the younger children also stayed with their father after a vacation. In October 2021, the Hanseatic Higher Regional Court in Hamburg ordered all children to return to their mother, but the Danish family court rejected the return because the children wanted to stay with their father.

In the following years, Christina Block tried in vain to obtain the repatriation of her children through the Danish courts. Contact with the children broke off and planning for the kidnapping apparently began in the spring of 2023, presumably with the help of an Israeli security company. On New Year's Eve 2023/24, masked men attacked the father in Denmark and kidnapped the children. On January 3, 2024, the children were finally found at their mother's home in Hamburg, and the court ordered that they return to their father.

The charges and child welfare

The allegations against Christina Block are serious. She is charged not only with kidnapping, but also with violence and deception. It is also reported that she cooperated with an Israeli security service to plan the kidnapping. In her defense, she argues that the security company took advantage of her worries and that the kidnapping arose from money problems. Gerhard Delling is also charged, he is accused of aiding and abetting serious child abduction and bodily harm. He denies the allegations and claims he only found out about the kidnapping on New Year's Day.

The children appear as co-plaintiffs; the daughter, who is now 14 years old, would like to testify publicly. Both children show signs of trauma, further complicating the situation. The daughter has also filed a criminal complaint against an employee of the youth welfare office who dealt with the case.

The legal complexity is enormous, especially because of the different decisions made by German and Danish courts regarding the children's right of residence. While the father retains custody, Christina Block failed with a constitutional complaint against the court rulings, which further complicates the already tense situation.

This family and custody tragedy highlights how challenging and emotionally draining such disputes can be. The next days of negotiations during the trial are eagerly awaited, especially as they could contribute to a final clarification of the situation that has burdened the affected family members for so long.
