Israel attacks Iranian nuclear facilities: Deadly air strike in Qom!
The conflict between Israel and Iran reached a new level of escalation on June 21, 2025. At least one 16-year-old person was killed and two other people were injured in an unprecedented attack on the Iranian city of Qom. The airstrike hit a residential building in Qom, about 50 kilometers north of the critical uranium enrichment facility in Fordo, which Israel considers a key target. At the same time, there was an explosion in the central Iranian city of Isfahan, where air defenses were activated. Isfahan is known for its important nuclear research center, which has now also come under attack. Radio Ennepe Ruhr reports on these dramatic events.
But why this attack? Israel is forced to respond to Iran's advanced nuclear program, which is worrying the international community. The uranium enrichment plant in Natans and other nuclear facilities had previously been attacked. This Natans base is known for its nearly 70 cascades and over 10,000 centrifuges that can be used for both civilian and military purposes. According to Tagesschau, the IAEA chief confirmed that the Natans facility was hit without increased radiation levels being detected.
Reactions to the attacks
However, the attack on Qom and the explosion in Isfahan are not the only news. The Israeli airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities are seen as a response to intelligence indicating that Iran is secretly working to produce a nuclear bomb. The 60 percent enrichment level, which has been greatly increased in recent months, could potentially rise to 90 percent in just a few days, crucial to the development of nuclear weapons. The international community is on alert. Experts warn that military attacks may only delay progress in Iran's nuclear program, but cannot permanently halt it. While the USA verbally supports Israel, military intervention could not be ruled out. The scenario of further escalation cannot be ruled out due to the active role of pro-Iranian militias, which have so far held back.
