Sandu emphasizes that the Moleuvean elections will decide not only the future of the Republic, but also its territorial integrity and independence. It makes it clear that Moscow's interference in the elections poses a serious threat. According to Sandu, “hundreds of millions of euros” from Russia are being used to financially support political parties and bribe voters , as reported by Zeit.
The race for votes
The president has also sent her own party, Action and Solidarity (PAS), into the race, but is making a non-partisan appeal to voters not to give pro-Russian forces a vote. Given popular discontent, PAS could lose its absolute majority, which would represent a setback for reforms on the path to EU accession. Such a scenario would dampen hopes of EU membership by the end of this decade.

Although Sandu is optimistic and hopes that PAS will become the strongest force in the EU with the support of the Moldovan diaspora, current trends could change the balance of power in Moldova. The election could therefore decide whether Moldova moves closer to the EU or drifts back into the Russian sphere of influence , said the time.
