Miele is investing 15 million euros in a sustainable future in Euskirchen!
There is a lot of investment in Euskirchen! Miele has modernized and upgraded its factory in the city over the past 15 months. The company has invested a good 15 million euros in a new logistics hall, a geothermal system and a photovoltaic system. This is not only good for the region, but also for the environment, as the Rundschau Online reports.
The new logistics hall, which boasts 3,500 square meters and space for 7,500 pallet spaces, meets all the requirements of the Building Energy Act (GEG). This not only increases efficiency, but also implements a modern lighting concept with LED technology and digital warehouse management.
Sustainable innovations for the future
With its motto “Always Better”, Miele pursues continuous improvements on many levels. The investments made are intended to help stabilize supply chains, reduce CO₂ emissions and improve security of supply, according to information from Miele here.
The geothermal system, equipped with 100 geothermal probes, not only supplies heat, but also provides cooling in the new hall and adjacent production areas totaling 16,000 square meters. This generates a heat output of 1,145 megawatt hours annually, which would be enough for around 110 households. In combination with the photovoltaic system, which consists of 900 modules and has an output of 394 kilowatt peak, the annual CO₂ savings are estimated at around 443 tons.
Green energy in focus
Environmental protection is becoming increasingly important in industry. The tips and trends for reducing CO₂ emissions illustrate the Industrie-Wegweiser. Miele is consistently taking a step in this direction and is relying on renewable energies that not only reduce dependence on fossil fuels, but also offer long-term cost advantages and greater security of supply. An example of this is the 158 tons of CO₂ that are saved annually by the photovoltaic system.
In addition to green technologies, the Euskirchen plant also focuses on training. A third of the approximately 420 employees completed their training directly at the site, and the collaboration with the Nordeifelwerkstätten (NEW) for pre-assembly and the operation of the canteen shows the company's social commitment.
Given the robust investments and sustainable initiatives, the future of the Miele plant in Euskirchen could be even more promising. Since future expansions on the site are certainly possible, the question arises: What comes next? In any case, the region can be sure that Miele wants to remain a reliable partner for jobs and environmental protection.
