Reiner Müller triumphs as the new shooting king in Gemünd!
In the picturesque Gemünd, where the banks of the Urft meet traditions, the local shooting club's royal shooting competition recently took place. Reiner Müller from the St. George Company can now call himself the shooting king after firing the decisive shot with his 35th bullet. This honor follows a long tradition that is deeply rooted in shooting and can be considered one of the oldest customs in Germany. How Review online reports, the shooters celebrated an impressive atmosphere and a variety of honors at the festival.
The process at the royal shooting was anything but usual. The shooters entered numbered lists; Lots decided when each member would take their turn. The shooters could shoot themselves or give the shot to another shooter, which required a certain amount of luck. At the beginning, the king's head fell after just six shots, shot by Raoul Schmitz, followed by Gerhard Koller, who hit the left wing after 27 shots. Ralph Heinrichs scored the goal on the right wing after nine shots. And ultimately it was the duel between Müller and Schmitz over the abdominal part that made the decision.
Festivities and honors
The shooting festival began on Saturday evening with a celebratory service, followed by a party with the band “Da Vinci”. On Sunday, the king rolled through Gemünd in a magnificent carriage and thrilled the spectators. The honors weren't neglected either: Thomas Keulerz became Citizen King and won the crown with his 27th shot.
On Monday the shooting was dedicated to the younger talents. Lisa Schmitz became the new young shooting princess, while Lena Harth and Matilda Karls won the titles of student and bambini princess. In addition, long-standing members of the association were honored: Norbert Müller received the title of lieutenant for life, and the other members Ralf Meier, Ernst Mauel as well as Max Harth and Werner Neunzig were honored for their 25, 40 and 50 years of active membership.
The meaning of the shooting festival
The royal shooting is not just a competition, but also represents a central tradition in shooting that has its roots as far back as the 12th century. How LVS describes, shooting has become more important over the centuries and shows a strong sense of community. In 2015 it was even included in the nationwide register of intangible cultural heritage, which gives the shooting sport a special appreciation.
With its event, the Gemünd shooting club has once again proven how lively and valuable this tradition is. The shooting king Reiner Müller and the many honored members not only contribute to maintaining the customs, but also promote cohesion and social responsibility in the community. Whether young or old, the spirit of shooting is reflected here in its most beautiful form.
For the coming year, many members are already excited to see what the next royal shooting event will bring. Because one thing is certain: the best shooting and luck can only be achieved through personal commitment and a sense of community - the foundations on which shooting clubs in Germany have stood for centuries.
