The Holland market is coming back to NRW: pure treats and atmosphere!

The Holland market returns to North Rhine-Westphalia in October 2025 and brings a piece of Dutch way of life to the region. The dates for this lively market have been set and invite everyone not to miss the delicious specialties and handmade products. How Ruhr24 reported, the following dates are on the program:

  • 5. Oktober in Gelsenkirchen von 11 bis 18 Uhr
  • 12. Oktober in Datteln
  • 26. Oktober in Hamm

In Gelsenkirchen, visitors can look forward to a selection of Gouda specialties, kibbeling, matjes, poffertjes and honey waffles. In Datteln, a brass band provides the musical accompaniment to the market, while in Hamm over 35 traders will treat visitors to Dutch specialties.

Tradition and history

The Holland market has a long tradition in North Rhine-Westphalia, which began in Emsdetten in 1990. There were only eleven dealers on site at the first event and the weather didn't cooperate. Nevertheless, the market grew into a permanent institution over the years holland-markt.nl highlights. There were some challenges at the beginning, not least because of closed borders for trade, but the market quickly established itself as one of the largest in Germany.

A team led by the organizers Yvonne and Henk ter Hennepe visits 28 German cities every year and brings a colorful mix of Dutch products with them. The traders not only offer culinary delicacies such as Frikandel specialiaal and Dutch licorice, but also leather goods, watches and many other non-food items. A Dutch band also provides musical enjoyment during the market.

Market dates and opening times

If you are interested in the upcoming markets, you should plan your weekends in October well. Throughout the fall, the markets are open every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The summer break traditionally lasts from July 1st to August 31st, and the new season begins at the end of September in Werl near Unna. Appointments in other communities such as Menden and Rauderfehn are also on the agenda in spring 2023 and 2024 tonight.de.

Whether fresh cheese, delicious fish dishes or the distinctive Poffertjes – the Holland market offers something for every taste. The connection to Dutch culture and the warm atmosphere make these events a popular destination for anyone looking for something special.
