New Police Commissioner Mustafa Solmaz strengthens Gütersloh!

There is good news for the security situation in Gütersloh: from the beginning of June the police brought a new man on board, namely Police Chief Inspector Mustafa Solmaz. He succeeds the previous police superintendent Rolf Heber, who now works in Rietberg. The team in Gütersloh is now complete again and is being reinforced by Chief Police Inspector Tanja Lindahl. Solmaz, who has worked in security and rotation duty in Gütersloh and Halle (Westphalia) since 2015, successfully applied for the position and will now ensure the safety of citizens on site.

Today, on Monday morning, he was introduced into his new office at a ceremonial welcome by District Administrator Sven-Georg Adenauer. Adenauer emphasized the importance of personally welcoming new district officials. "The district service officers are the first point of contact for citizens and are well networked with schools, companies and businesses. They have the instinct to recognize minor problems early on and often react before they become larger," explained the district administrator.

A new team in Kattenstroth

But something is not only happening in Gütersloh: a new district service team will start in Kattenstroth from April 1st. It was presented on March 21st by District Administrator Adenauer, First Alderman Henning Matthes, Police Director Dirk Zeller and other responsible persons. The new team consists of Chief Police Inspector Miriam Christ and Police Chief Inspector Patrick Fenske. Christ brings a lot of know-how with her almost 25 years of experience at Citywache Gütersloh, while Fenske previously worked as a clerk in the control center.

The police officers plan to travel around the district a lot to maintain contact with citizens and take their concerns seriously. The telephone number for the Kattenstroth district service is 05241 532094, and the office is located at Eichenallee 100b.

The political framework

But what does this mean for the security situation in Germany? The Federal Agency for Civic Education addresses the fact that Germany has a federal police system, with around 250,000 law enforcement officers distributed across the federal and state police forces. The police density varies greatly and shows that city states such as Berlin and Hamburg in particular have a higher density. The police in the respective federal states and their specific tasks play a crucial role in the security concept.

Particular attention is paid to prevention. The primary aim of the police is to prevent crimes and intervene at an early stage. This is achieved through close interaction with the population, in which district service officers such as Mustafa Solmaz and the new colleagues in Kattenstroth occupy a key position.

Overall, it is clear that the personnel changes and increased proximity to citizens will create real added value for security in the region. With this realignment in the police service, the citizens of Gütersloh and the surrounding area can hope for a safe piece of home.
