Finn Philipp returns to Hagen: The mega duel of the regional league!
Basketball in Hagen, a city that has a lot of passion for its sport, is celebrating a small but nice duel next Saturday. At 7:30 p.m. the HammStars will meet their former player Finn Philipp, who now plays for the HammStars. The lively player, who once learned to play basketball in Hagen, is determined to achieve their fourth win in their fourth game with his new team. Finn will definitely be full of energy in his hometown because, after all, his roots run deep there. As the WAZ reports, the encounter is not only important for him personally, but also for the dynamics of the Regionalliga West.
BBA Hagen, the club where Finn spent nine years, has big plans under the leadership of coach Ingo Freyer. The club's goal is to be promoted to the 2nd Bundesliga Pro B. But Finn emphasizes that the HammStars have their own agenda: “We can annoy Hagen,” says Philipp optimistically, because the HammStars squad is broader than last season.
A look back at Finn's career
Finn-Luca Philipp is a true native of BBA Hagen and knew from an early age that he loved basketball. In 13 years he progressed through the youth teams and left a lasting impression, especially in the JBBL and NBBL, where he averaged an impressive 21.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game last year. Finn was also a key performer on the Kodiaks' regional league team, averaging 8.9 points last season. This development was not only noticed by fans, managing director Kosta Filippou also praised Finn's decision to take on new challenges in the Regionalliga West. At the same time, the BBA will always be an option for Finn, like that BBA Hagen emphasized.
Coach Ivan Rosic has great confidence in Finn, who will now take on more responsibility in Hamm. “Defensively we have to improve on offense against Hagen’s big positions,” he makes clear. Does Finn already have the solution for this? In any case, the HammStars will have to deliver their best performance against the strong Hagen.
A personal duel between friends
The connection with his former teammate Fiete Springer is less of a competitive feeling and more of an opportunity for friendly conversations. But Finn won't exchange any information in advance - what counts here is loyalty to his current team. The exchange between the two players shows that friendships can exist in sport that go beyond the field.
On Saturday, viewers can expect an exciting match in which Finn's decisions, his development and his friendships will play an important role. Will the HammStars be able to continue their series? And will Finn manage to put his old club in trouble? The answers to this will be available on Saturday in the Märkische Sports Hall!
