Today, December 26, 2025, the Sauerland and Soester Börde celebrates a very special tradition - sausage singing. In this custom, young men go from house to house with a hazelnut branch, singing songs in Low German and collecting gifts, often in the form of sausages, which hang from the branch. These donated delicacies are then eaten together, making the event a social highlight of the Christmas season.
