Big benefit concert in Wahlstedt: Goodbye Ghana for a good cause!
A musical highlight awaits visitors on November 14th at 8 p.m. in the Small Theater on the Market in Wahlstedt. Under the title “Adieu Ghana – African Symphony”, the benefit concert, conducted by the Swiss saxophonist and composer Daniel Schnyder and the experienced Thomas Dobler, promises a unique sound experience. The event is a true musical dialogue between European classical music, jazz and the rich traditions of West African music, transporting listeners to another world.
The concert is an initiative of the Tafelstiftung Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg, which supports the local population with various measures. The event is supported by the NEUE-MUSIK-IMPULSE foundation and the committed personalities Hans-Wilhelm Hagen, Wilfried Jendis and Horst Kornelius. Tickets are available both on the theater's website and at the box office.
A look at the Tafelstiftung
The Tafelstiftung Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg plays an important role in the fight against food waste. According to the Food and Agriculture Organization, almost half of the world's food is destroyed in industrialized countries. In Germany, around eleven million tons of food end up in the trash every year - not least because 60 percent of this waste comes from private households. In addition to rescuing food, their work also includes training for drivers and hygiene training as well as workshops on occupational safety for the 60 food banks and 30 distribution points in Schleswig-Holstein and Hamburg. This non-profit organization particularly helps people in need, including many children and young people who often cannot afford the most necessary food. Those interested can find further details about their projects on the website of the Tafelstiftung Schleswig-Holstein-Hamburg.
Past successes for a good cause
The benefit concert in Wahlstedt is one of a series of successful events that have recently benefited the Tafelstiftung. In July 2025, during the “Travemünde Week”, a concert by the Jesse Mattern Orchestra was held in the Atlantic Grand Hotel Travemünde, the proceeds of which totaled around 3,000 euros went entirely to the Tafelstiftung. Special guests, such as saxophonist Jesse Mattern and special guest Alain Brunet, thrilled the audience. In addition, a men's bicycle, donated by district director Jörn Klatt, was auctioned off and raised another 700 euros for the good cause. In his speech, CEO Bernd Jorkisch honored the more than 100 volunteers who actively support the food banks in the north and thus make an important contribution to society.
There is great anticipation for the concert because music connects and helps - especially where it is needed. Take the opportunity to not only enjoy great music, but also make a valuable contribution to supporting those in need. Let us be surprised at what sonic treasures the benefit concert “Adieu Ghana – African Symphony” has in store for us!
