Safe travel with Pedelecs: Free training in Hagen!

In the colorful and lively city of Hagen, the issue of road safety for Pedelec riders is becoming more and more important. The Hagen police have therefore put together a very special offer during the summer holidays: free Pedelec training for adults. This training includes practical exercises and aims to significantly increase safety when using electric bikes. This is a step in the right direction, especially with the increasing use of Pedelecs as a means of transport, as the number of traffic accidents involving Pedelec riders, especially among older people, has increased worryingly, as the NRW Police highlights.

The first training session will take place on Tuesday, July 15th, at Hengsteysee in Seestrasse and the second training session will take place on Thursday, July 17th, in Lennepark. Both events start at 10 a.m. and end at 2 p.m. Participants must bring their own Pedelec and a bicycle helmet. However, it should be noted that participation is at your own risk. In addition, two originally planned dates on July 22nd and 24th were canceled. If you want to take part in this exciting training, you don't need to make a reservation, which makes things even easier. If you have any questions, Chief Inspector Hoffmann (Tel. 02331-986-4011) and Chief Inspector Kantak (Tel. 02331-986-4012) are available. An email can also be sent to PedelecTraining.Hagen@polizei.nrw.de.

Training content and benefits

But what do participants really expect? The training courses not only provide information about the differences between Pedelecs and conventional bicycles, but also valuable tips on riding techniques. Starting techniques, correct braking and cornering are practiced. The ADAC also offers a technology check in which the road safety of your own Pedelec is checked. Topics such as how to properly handle the battery are also discussed so that participants can exploit the full potential of their electric bikes.

The individual strengths and weaknesses that are identified during training are particularly important. This enables a targeted improvement in driving technique, which not only contributes to accident prevention, but also raises awareness of respectful interaction on the road. For commuters and occasional riders of pedelecs and bicycles, this training is an excellent opportunity to move more safely and comfortably in traffic.
