Bad news for ASV Hamm-Westphalia: The application to increase the 2nd handball Bundesliga to 19 teams has failed. This means that the club has to be relegated to the 3rd league. This decision was announced on Thursday afternoon, and managing director Markus Fuchs expressed disappointment in a club statement about the lack of urgency, which led to the motion not being voted on. Fuchs spoke of negative effects on personnel planning and organization as there was uncertainty for a long time. “The topic has now been checked off,” he explained, while the ASV is working intensively on planning for the 2025/26 season in the 3rd league.

In a review of the current developments, those responsible for ASV and Dessau-Roßlauer HV issued a joint statement before the catch-up game. Dessau-Roßlau won against TuSEM Essen with 30:24 (18:14) and ASV fans are therefore called upon to continue to hope that they will stay in the league, even though the reality has now sealed relegation.
