Arrest at Hamm main station: intensive offenders and financial offenders behind bars!

On Monday, September 15, 2025, the federal police at Hamm main station achieved a double success in the search for wanted people. In an exciting operation, the officers were able to execute two arrest warrants that related to very different backgrounds. This shows once again that important enforcement actions continue to take place at a junction like Hamm main station.

The first arrest was a 27-year-old German from Hamm. He was arrested on the basis of an arrest warrant from the Dortmund public prosecutor's office. This arrest warrant was issued due to unpaid fines resulting from a conviction by the Hamm district court. The man had to answer in two cases for using the license plates of unconstitutional organizations. After the arrest, he paid the outstanding 300 euros as well as additional costs of over 1,000 euros and was then taken to the Hamm correctional facility to serve a 30-day substitute prison sentence [wa.de].

A young intensive offender went into hiding

The second arrest involved an 18-year-old intensive care offender who also comes from Hamm. His arrest warrant was also issued by the Hamm district court. The young man was wanted for a variety of crimes, including violence, property and drug crimes. What was particularly alarming was that he failed to show up for his court appearances, which ultimately led to his being ordered into pre-trial detention. According to presseportal.de this indicates that the 18-year-old had repeatedly gotten into conflict with the law in the past.

The execution of arrest warrants at Hamm main station is not uncommon. However, one special event from the previous year stands out: On November 21, 2024, five arrest warrants were executed within 24 hours. This shows how important the main train station is as a location for police operations, not only locally, but also in the context of national wanted figures.

A broad context of arrest warrants

In order to better understand the statistics behind such actions, it should be said that, according to an analysis by the Bundestag, there were a total of 9,189 open national and international arrest warrants as of March 31, 2023. Of these, 1,845 searches were for cases with a politically motivated background. The distribution clearly shows that the majority of the people wanted are not in Germany. Nevertheless, in every federal state, like here in North Rhine-Westphalia, people keep turning up who evade justice - like the two men on Monday.

The fact that both the 27-year-old and the 18-year-old are now in custody sends an important signal to the public: the authorities are alert and ready to take action against criminals, even if they go into hiding. At a time when the pressure on the security forces is high, it will be exciting to see how the situation will develop and whether further successes will follow.
